Sarah Shourd is a writer, social justice activist and ESL teacher from Oakland, Ca living in the Middle East. She is currently teaching with the Iraqi Student Project (http://iraqistudentproject.org). Her writing has been published by Brave New Traveler, Transitions Abroad and Bay View Newspaper. She’s covered a range of topics from the Zapatista water struggles in Chiapas, Mexico to gentrification and displacement in Oakland, California. She loves fresh broccoli, Zapatistas and anyone who can change her mind.
